The Disqualifying Hypocrisy of Princeton’s President
Christopher Eisgruber espouses academic freedom but mendaciously blocks accountability for his administration’s retaliation against a faculty member’s unfavored speech.
The preceding title and subtitle are those to my opinion published March 29, 2025, in National Review.
In July 2022, President Eisgruber informed Princeton professor Sergiu Klainerman that the official complaint he and seven other faculty members filed the preceding fall would not be investigated and was a “closed” matter. The complaint was against the University administration’s depiction of another Princeton professor, Joshua Katz, in its presentation “To Be Known and Heard: Systemic Racism and Princeton University.”
The manner and substance of Eisgruber’s dismissal of the Klainerman complaint are a far graver scandal than what forced the ousters of Stanford’s and Harvard’s presidents.
Please read my NR opinion to find out why. (Those without a National Review subscription can access an archived copy here.)
Eisgruber must go!
